FROM THE FILE OF PHIL Mark Wesner shared the following reasons to join a Small Group. Our Small Groups will start next Sunday (the 7th) night. If you plan on being in a group but haven’t signed up yet, be sure to do so this Sunday morning. The Books are hard to find and we want to make sure that we have material for everyone. 1. You will understand the Bible better in a small group. In a small group setting, you can ask questions, participate in a discussion of the Scripture, and hear others share insights and illustrations of the truth you desire. 2. You will begin to feel even more a part of God’s family in a small group. Most people who have participated in a small group say the greatest benefits are the friendships that are developed. 3. You will be able to handle stress and pressure better by being in a small group. You will have a sense of stability and security knowing there are people who really care for you because they will get to know and love you in meaningful relationships. These connections are far more than a person can cultivate by merely attending Worship services on Sunday morning. 4. Prayer will become more meaningful to you in a small group. There are many promises in the Bible related to group prayer. In prayer together with a few others, we are drawn together and we find answers to the needs in our lives. But don’t worry, you won’t be “put on the spot” to pray out loud. 5. You will truly practice New Testament Christianity in a small group! The New Testament book of Acts is very clear about how God intends for His people to grow and have their needs met in the Church. “All the believers were together and had everything in common … Every day they continued to meet together .. they broke bread in their home … and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:44, 46-47) |
